Semi-dumb jet pump ?

Can I use sealant instead of the neoprene ring to seal the pump to the shoe? I just put in a new wear ring, and wasnt aware that the shoe and pump need to be air tight, and am getting really bad cavitation. It will barely get above 10mph, no accel at all, and is shooting air out along with the water.

Yup. I used some silicone to seal mine, and it works fine... no cavitation after replacing both wear rings. I think gasket maker would be better for this application, but all I had laying around was a little siliconeII. Taking it apart after using silicone might be a whole other issue, but I'll cross that road when I get to it
