Hey guys, this summer im going to try to revive a childhood friend of mine, my 98' GTI.

Im sure the engine is seized, I narrowed it down to the engine block last summer, the pump is not frozen. I had some marvel mystery oil sitting in it but could not hand crank it... What do do next? Should i try something different like diesel or penetrating oil to unseize her? or should i go ahead and crack the head to see whats going on. There was no water peneration in the bearing to the impeller the oil ran black(and stinky)

Has this ski been stored? Was it winterized or stored inside a heated garage?

I would go ahead and pull the head.

The pump oil that SeaDoo uses is black and stinky, that's normal.

What's brown and sticky and lays on the ground?
A STICK! (sorry guys. You go ahead without me :) )

unfortunately i am a poor college student that had to store it for the past few years tarped through a CNY winter, i had drained all fluids before putting it up though, if i get it running i intend to take better care of it now that i am graduated and employed!!

Second question, is there a good place to shop for a bombardier 717 head gasket? Last year i found some listed, now this year.... no dice

If the motor was running OK and you winterized, remove the zerk and put a pipe wrench on the PTO, use an extention if needed to break it free. IF she was put up wet, I'd suggest splitting the cases. IMO

Thanks for the comment everyone, Bill originally it was put away wet.

Should i invest in a full engine gasket set if i split the case, or would i just need a head gasket x2.

I haven't split it yet anyways thats going to happen Wednesday i believe.
