hi ,

I put a deposit on a seadoo rxp 2005 215hp yesterday and only now have I been told what the guy who owned did really wrong. When he started it he turned hose on for at least 30secs before starting engine . Im meant to be paying for the thing tomoz does that mean theres risk ill have water in the engine? and how should i check beofre I hand over the cash for the thing?

please help as this is my first jetski and I dont really know the proper way meant to flush it and not suer if he did it right .

thankyou

Don't buy a lemon. Ride it first for a trial demonstation. Demand a written warranty
was implied by seller agent. Get your deposit back if they refuse you.
LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!! Pay a Pro ski mechanic a few bucks to go over it. It'll
give you peice of mind. If its a decent deal, the seller will oblige you.

Yikes... If it where me I would pull the plugs and bump the starter a few times. After that I would fog the heck out of the motor.

thanks mate ,
thats what i was scared of the thing has only done 12hrs and it was this blokes son who did . ill go up there today as the dad is the owner and tell him what the son did ill make him get water out .

so have to pull spark plugs to see where water or will there be water in the oil in the dipstick just so i can show this bloke theres water in there

:agree: I do have to agree that bill gave you the best advice. For some crazy reason you do not follow his advice at least test it out on the water to make sure it runs correctly. If he was able to start it easy after what he did it should be ok. Do check for water in the oil but I do not think that you will find any. I can allways be wrong so follow bill's advice as he is the guru.

I did take for a test ride yesterday and runs perfect then got it home and took it out and it ran perfect . the oil is fairly thin for jetski and seemed there wasnt any in the oil or in the spark plugs etc.

thanks heaps guys

Rule of thumb...

The rule of thumb here is to start the motor before turning on the water. But, just because the water was turned on first, doesn't mean that you have water ingestion.

You'll ingest water from your exhaust system if you turn the water on and wait to long, that it fills the tuned exhaust and dumps over into your cylinders.

This does not happen within the first minute of so that it's turned on. Since I have no idea of the volume of your water hose, you'd have to judge. Look at the exhaust pipe. If you picture the size of the exhaust and where your water injection is and the size of the fitting, then you can determine about how long it would take for you to fill that void before dumping it over the top of the loop.

Although I agree with Bill and Robin, for piece of mind, it may be a good idea to have it gone over by a certified mechanic. If this is not possible, then check your plugs for any sign of water. Your oil should not show water unless it got into the cylinders and was able to get between the piston rings to drain into the sump. If oil and water mixed, the dip stick will have a yellowish tint to it.

But, I just want to make clear that just because you turn on the water first, doesn't mean that you are going to dump water into your cylinders as soon as its done. It has to run for a few minutes to fill the exhaust first.......
