My complete set of top end gaskets has arrived and I've started reviewing my owners manual before dismantleing the top end of my '96 XP. I see a lot of referances to special tools, thread sealants and synthetic greases. I have the following question:

1) is there a specific differance between the loctite formulas identifed in the manual than the loctite I can get at an auto parts store? i.e. Red, Green, and blue loctite 242, 515, 648. I'm not so much interested in saving any money but it will save me some time if I dont have to waite for an order to be delivered.
2) same question for the Sealant 736 and the synthetic grease. Is this syntheetic grease just basic silocone or teflon based grease?
3) there doesnt seam to be any referance to applying gasket sealant to any of the gaskets, some of them do require a light application of synthetic grease
4) piston bearing puller and pistin ring compressor/holder (are these absolutly necessary or can I use something else?
