Hi there, just rebuild my GTX, all new crank, pistons, carb kit etc. New fuel line, filters clean, plugs new etc. Took for maiden run and above 4K RPM runs beautiful. From Idle if you give it WOT it runs perfect, just at low no wake speeds, 5 knots, 1500 to 4k RPM it runs rough, like I said if you give it gas it goes no problem, just does not seem to like the low constant 1.5K to 4K rpm range. I this quite normal or is there something I could try to make the low range smooth, kinda sounds like misfiring etc. Low Speed screw 1 turn out as per manual. All else standard. Thank you for reading my post.

Sounds like the 3 small holes that supply fuel for the low speed circuits might be plugged. When you spray carb cleaner through the pilot jet hole you should see 3 solid hard streams into the carb throats.

They do sputter and pop a little if held at a constant low speed but yours sounds a little more severe than normal.

i had the same issue last year. Mikidymac nailed it, that is exactly what my problem was. some black crap was in there just enough to slow the fuel but not completely plug it.

Awesome thanks guys. I'll take them back off and make sure they are clear. Will let you know. Once again thanks for the response.

Hi there, just a quick reply to say that you guys were right those 3 pin holes in the carbs were blocked. Cleaned them out, immediately she idled higher, turned that down and runs awesome now in all revs. Thanks again and hope this can help someone that have the same issue. Cheers.

I have this exact problem on the exact same ski 96 GTX. 205 hours on the ski...I just bought it and I am new to Seadoos.

Ski didnt start or run when I bought it.

Replaced all fuel lines, removed the fuel tank and cleaned. Original fuel selector and original fuel filter/seperator.

Rebuilt carbs, used original needle arm springs, new needle and seats.

Compression was 150/152
Cut back the spark plug wires and reinstalled.
New plugs

Low speed screws set at 1.25 out high speed 0.
Ski misfires at idle in water a bit but mostly at part throttle positions (under 1/2 throttle) it misfires with a pop pop through exhaust.

Once I get past about 3/8-1/2 throttle and above about 4K ski runs great with awesome power.

Thus, I thought it was the three holes in the low speed circuit. I cleaned another set of carbs and placed them on and tested with the same results.

Plugs were darker tan after the last outing.

I just went through the original carbs again blasting a ton of air and carb cleaner through the low speed circuit and the three holes. Just placed them on the the ski again and ran on the hose...doesnt seem much different but will need a water test to verify.

Other thoughts:
I have air bubbles showing up in the fuel delivery line to the carbs. Not sure how or if this could cause my part throttle misfire.

tachometer bounces around at idle speed on the hose (is this normal?)

the misfire seems/sounds like a spark created misfire but runs awesome at full throttle and high speed so not sure what in the spark ignition system would be the culprit. Could this be a mag pickup problem?

Any ideas on where to proceed from here?
