I have 2012 Challenger 230 / 520 and my Starboard engine is noticeable louder than my Port side engine. Has anyone every noticed this before on their boat? Could it be a bad resonator on that engine, or a noisy Supercharger? I bought the boat in March and had to work through various issues to get it to run consistently, which it is running fine now. Now I am going through and taking care of the things that "bug" me, like the sound level difference. I did not that the Intercoolers are not the same, the Port side engine (quieter one), has had the Intercooler changed as it is slightly larger and had a vent line running to the back of the transom, the Starboard side does not. The part number on the Starboard engine IC is 276000273, which according to the Seadoo Parts Warehouse is not the correct part number. Although, if you search the web, this number should work on this year and model boat. Any input would be appreciated.
thanks.

Can’t say I’ve checked to see the difference, I’m curious now if mine are the same or different. Can you shoot some vids of each one and post back? Might be able to hear something etc.

I will do that when I am back at the lake house over the weekend. I failed to mention I put a new supercharger on the Port engine, haven't touched the starboard side yet, was going to wait until the end of the season.

By the way, what brand of lights did you use for the back of your boat under the swim platform? Looks good!

Thanks, I picked them up off Amazon, two different brands but what I received was exactly the same. Amazon.com : Linkstyle 27LED Underwater Pontoon Marine Boat Transom Lights LED Navigation Lights, LED Underwater Transom Light for Boat IP68 Waterproof & Blue Light : Sports & Outdoors

Cheap and work extremely well. I, as usual, went seal happy and went a little overboard but zero issues in 3 years and it’s in a wet slip the whole time.

Not saying this is it but my pStarboard engine was louder than my port. I bought a new to me boat that someone said the one charger was rebuilt. Turns out the Starboard supercharger blewup 2 weeks ago, Port blewup prior and had touchdown but you could never tell unless you took the housing off the charger. After new rebuilds they are both VERY quite now. Before i thought one engine had rod knock or some piston slap. It did not. Eventually the bearing in the charger got even louder for a weekend right before it let loose.

I had an issue on my port engine, not revving past 5k. Eventually I checked the Supercharger, I had slip. When I took out the Supercharger, the bearing was shot, and it had a touchdown. Couldn't be rebuilt so I put a new one in. That engine is quiet, the Starboard sort of sounds like a car with a bad power steering pump.

Since there are not to many moving accessories like a car engine I guess I would put my money on the charger. Much quieter for me! PWC muscle can rebuild anything. They put new impellors and housings on mine. They were real bad but didn’t explode. In the end it was about $400 cheaper than two new ones. I didn’t want to upgrade anything since the boat is good enough in power for us. IMG_1209.JPGIMG_1233.JPGIMG_1228.JPGIMG_1234.JPG

Wow. Pretty messed up. My impeller and housing were gouged. By the time I got the parts and the labor to rebuild it, pretty close to buying a new one. What did it run you to use PWC? Thanks.

$1800 for 2 with new housing and 2 impellors and 24hr turn around

Thanks for the information. I found new ones, current part numbers and stock for $922 a piece. Is yours the 215 or the 255/260 engines?
