So I just picked up my first boat!!! Last week, I purchased a 1997 Seadoo Challenger, and will be beginning to give it an overhaul in preparation for spring time in Ohio... I have been working on motocross race bikes for years but I am new to the (jet drive) boat scene...

A little about my new baby.. Boat has not seen the water in two years but looks to be in great condition besides the right motor being yanked for low-compression reasons. (I will be getting a SBT re-man motor replacement, for the warranty I cant see how you can go wrong) If someone could please give me a check-list of parts and components to go over and some numbers and clearances to look for while doing so (wear ring, cylinder compression numbers, "how to" check the jet drive, etc etc...), I would really appreciate it!

I'm assuming that I should rebuild the carbs and block off the oil pump and run my own premix in case of failure... Any other knowledge or procedures you can share with me would be great. Also, is there anywhere online where you can find a service manual to download?

That they're not brittle or broken. People ignore them, then when/if they break they blame the oil pump.. :)

This is funny, I just bought a 1997 challenger with a bad port side engine that had not seen the water in a while. I am in the process of putting a SBT engine in right now, it is sitting on my work bench. Had to share.
