Hello

I have just bought a cheap seadoo from a customer at work. This has been sat for quite a while but I saw this running etc on the trailer, I took it away the weekend.. rode it for 5 minutes in harbour & as soon as I was exiting it cut out, fired back up & cut out again a few times.. basically realised I was not going to be moving anywhere, revs would not do anything. Says maintenence and 12v low voltage (I think) I tried jump starting and still nothing, it briefly fires but cuts more or less straight out.. hopefully someone can help

Well, you're definitely not helping matters trying to jump start it. Never jump start it, you'll blow circuitry in the MPEM and it's not cheap to replace. I'd measure the voltage on the battery, when you crank it observe how much it dips, below a certain point, it's not enough voltage to get it to fire. Could just be a battery, but I think it's more than that.

If it sat for a while, I'd go through this ski before attempting to go out and ride anymore. Double check all the oil lines and the proper oil in the ski. These skis are picky about the fuel system, replace old lines and check the carbs out, probably wouldn't hurt to rebuild them with OEM kits and so forth.

Fuel system, good compression, clean RAVEs, fresh jet pump oil, proper injection oil, new lines, all areas you should look over.

Hello

Right I ordered loads of bits (awaiting delivery) but checked over ski tonight... Fuel tap was seized, I will order one now so that’s my first problem hopefully sorted. question is, should fuel run through grey pipes when I crank ski? I took filter off, disconnected the tap & minimal fuel came from pipes.

Another question, how does neutral/reverse work as mine only went forward lol

Yep, fuel selectors are a common problem, even brand new ones can be an issue as I found out. Grey pipes? the fuel lines? Replace them if they're grey and say "tempo" those old lines don't hold up well to the enthanol fuel today, they can gum up the carbs and cause issues.

Just check the linkage on the rear bucket over the jet pump, it may need some adjustment and some lubing up. Sometimes it can be a little sticky and you need to make a quick jerk on it to get to engage in the positions.

Do you need to start in reverse or just lift handle?

Should fuel have came out of lines/started to fill up the filter bowl when cranking? Hope I can get away sunday!!

Thanks for your help buddy

You need to redo the entire fuel system. New oem fuel selector valve. Replace all gray fuel lines. Clean carbs thoroughly and install new oem rebuild kit including needles and seats. OSD sells everything you need. If you continue to try to run it without doing all this you will melt the top end (pistons). Read the carb rebuild thread on here and follow it to a tee.
