Seadoo 07 GTI speedometer not illuminating

I have a Seadoo 07 GTI and the speedometer and water temperature LCD crystal does not work. When you start up the ski it will illuminate, but the speedometer and temperature of the water does not display. Everything else works on the LCD. I just brought the ski into a repair shop at the end of last season and this worked before they fixed the driveshaft.

Any thoughts on this? Did the repair shop forget to hook something back up?

Over winter sometimes skis will lose some of their saved ECU information, not common but happens. It will need to be hooked up to BUDS or aftermarket software to enable the water temp and speed functions. Takes about 5 minutes.

Or,, the gauges are "gone,",,,usually corrosion on one of the circuit boards,,,they rarely blow a fuse.

I stopped by the Sea-Doo dealer today and asked the mechanic a question about this and he said there isn’t anything to take a turn on or turn off it would either be that cluster or else something more in depth. When I do start it everything illuminates even the speedometer says zero but then once it goes through that cycle nothing is illuminated on the right side.

Sure, I could do it in less than 5 minutes. Any half decent tech would know that you can turn options on and off with just a check box in BUDS. Some dealers are so dishonest that they make it seem like they are doing a lot of extra work or make up extra stuff just to charge more. Go back to that dealer and tell them on the settings page for ECU on BUDS all they have to do is check the box and then click Write, done. They could learn something, lol.

Where are you located?

Looks right. Reach in with a needle nose and grab the tang and work it back and forth to break it. I'd use red loctite on the helicoil to set it in place permanently and make sure it is slightly recessed since the seal area is the flat surface where the copper washer seats.

I was researching taps, there are different kinds. Do i need a plug tap to do this? Also If I use a plug tap is there a specific heilcoil for theses types of taps? I am just worry of this little coil leaking.

It's not a plug tap. The tap is in the kit. As I said above, it doesn't seal on the threads, it seals on the flat spot with the copper washer under the bolt. It's just a standard metric thread and bolt.

What is your guess with these fault codes? The battery is not even a year old.

Simple fixes. Step 1 is to make sure they are enabled. They are occurred and not active so doesn't mean much just that it happened in the past.

What is the actual problem?

You will hear a beep every now and then but no error code. I actually bought the battery through him which is the original manufacture a battery and it only has a six month warranty and I’ve only used it twice. He also said that I need a new sensors and a speed water temperature sensor.
