One more question, if the ignition coil goes bad would that cause ski to lose power completely or just click while trying to start?

But yes there was spark before lost power , completely out of no where. Voltage came back good so idk why I’m not getting any power threw the machine.

So when I went to take it out. It was clicking so I went to replace the starter solenoid, and after I got it all back together it didn’t have any power at all .

Did you put the little black wire on the negative battery post? If you don't have that wire connected the ski won't do anything. It is a black ring terminal that comes out of the top of the rear electrical box.

Another possibility is that the positive cable touched the ground or something. That will blow a fuse on the MPEM.

Did you jump out the starter relay before you replaced it. That way you'll know if the problem is the relay or the starter. Good Luck man !! Post up your progress. :D

I did put that wire back on battery, I’ll check the other 2 options and let y’all know what happens.

I'm no guru but I've been to the fair a few times. LOL Check your voltage to the solenoid and voltage to the ignition coil. If your coil is bad the ski won't start, it will still turn over. You can unplug the wires from the MPEM that go to the rear of the ski. Put a volt meter on the wires, push the start button and observe what happens. If you are getting voltage to the rear electric box then you have a component failure in the rear. If you are not getting a signal to the rear box then your issue is up front.

I''d check the Dess Post, and start switch. Push the button. What happens when you push the start button without the key inserted?

It’s getting the voltage, I’m thinking it’s the dess post. Before the ski had quit working I would have to move the key around to find the sweet spot . An nothing happens when key is off.

Had no power due to blown fuse in the front electrical box. ( I completely spaced that one) but back too it clicking. About to see if the solenoid is bad.

Old solenoid tan color were known to go bad
Later style are black. I have de riveted one or two tan ones , cleaned the contacts but don’t last long
$30 roughly for a new one
Make sure your battery is good before confining it’s the solenoid
12.6 V on the meter means squat
Best get it load tested

When using a light tester I’m getting power at both post on the solenoid, so would I move too the starter then? And to load test battery, would I just put my prongs on it and push the button to see what it drops too?

When are you getting power to both posts on the solenoid? You should have constant power on the battery side and power on the starter side only when the solenoid is engaged. The solenoid can give 12 volts but still not enough current to move the starter motor. It's cheap, replace it. :)

Battery side was constant and other side would light up when start button is pushed. So your bet is solenoid went out again?

You can but a screw driver across the two big terminals to confirm it’s the solenoid
The engine should turn over but be careful as the screw driver will get hot and arcing will occur
It could still be the battery but doing above will tell u

That means your battery is toast
By shorting out the big terminals you ar basically connecting the system to the battery
Your grounds are good on engine block ?
When starter was installed were the starter Tom and blocki clean to be able to the negative load

if the battery is good, and you get nothing when jumping the posts of the solenoid, it's either your starter or the cables or a locked up motor
