I'm going to purchase an SBT motor for the '92. SBT suggest the the oil injection on these older skis be disabled. I really don't want to do that. I have the manual showing how to bench test the pump but was just wondering if some knows if there's a kit or a procedure to revitalize the pump...thanks

The pumps are rock solid. They want you to remove it to lower their warranty return potential. Most folks do know to replace the little 3/32" injection lines. They don't know they have to bleed the pump, so it's easier for a blanket statement "We recommend removing the oil injection pump".

With that being said.......Did you figure out why the engine went in the first place? If you don't do that you'll be right back in the water with a dead engine.

Understood.... and no I did not open up the engine to actually see what went ...but I did see this on the rotary valve which could only indicate to me that definitely something broke inside but why?.... compression on both cylinders is under 120, definitely an issue... I know it was using oil but maybe not as much as the other two when we had all three out at the same time using the same amount of fuel... and from a past experience on another 92 having that rotary gear shear in the crank, that's exactly what this one sounded like when it stopped

Plugs look good.
From the rotary valve either a bolt fell down the intake or you lost a piston pin bearing.

Keep the oil injection and use only API-TC oil.

So with that being said, would it be probably be safe to say that this 26 year old engine(never rebuilt) possibly was just due to have a catastrophic failure?...
