SBT crank not eligible for a core from BRP?

I ordered a rebuilt OEM crankshaft from an online dealer. I expected there to be a core charge, but none was listed and the order went through without any additions to the total. I received a call today that there was a core charge of $200. I asked whether an SBT crank would be considered an acceptable core as my totaled engine was an SBT rebuild. The person I was working with called BRP and apparently was told that it shouldn't be a problem. I just received a .pdf from BRP sent to me from the online dealer that says that a welded crank will cause a deduction of $200 dollars from the core reimbursement. :facepalm: I'm assuming that SBT cranks are welded based on their web site, but haven't split the cases yet to verify that. Hmmm, now for plan B?
 
Yep, there is a $200 dollar core for BRP. SBT does indeed weld their cranks which MANY rebuilders will not touch. Plan B is to find a used crank CHEAP.

I may have one I can part with. I have to check what it would cost to ship to your dealer you're using. They can be had for $70 shipped on ebay but I don't think they would ship to your dealer. Get me the info and I'll work out a number for it.
 
Scratch that, just saw your other post about the pistons that you have a 951. I only have 787 cranks.
 
Check with Nick, Minnetonka4me. He probably has a 951 crank and can ship it to your dealer. You might have to wait because most of the guys here are jerks and are riding Lake Norman this weekend.:cool:
