I recently purchased a 2005 RXP with 28 hrs, my 1st Seadoo and only 2nd PWC, in an effort to monitor thrust bearing wear I have started a oil check program. The 1st check has indicated:
182 mg/L (ppm) of Sodium (Water only 0.094 %W/W)
21 mg/L of Copper
18 mg/L of Aluminium
28 mg/L of Iron
If anybody can help with past experience with the following questions, I would be most appreciative
Q1. As cooling system is closed loop, is the sodium level high. If so can salt water enter the oil only via exhuast valve or is there other potential issues?
Q2. Assume copper is from thrust washer wear, does anybody know what normal wear might be?
Q3. I am thinking iron from liners and AL from piston, any clues regarding normal wear?
