Running without key

So I got my motor back for my 95 xp from SES about a month ago. Unfortunately I had to move the same week it came in so I just got around to installing and test during this weekend.

While test firing it I pulled the key off came back a minute later and forgot to put the key back on but hit the start button. With no key it started and ran as normal.

This has never been the case and I'm hoping to figure out what I need to do to fix this because I can't have it taking off after someone falls off it.

The safety lanyard switch was replaced last year not sure where else I need to look.

I would think it’s the post, even though you replaced it. Check it with a multimeter and see if you’ve got voltage with and without the button pushed in.

I put a spring in my steering to turn it jet ski style if the rider falls off and the motor stays running.

Look into that post and it's connection to the wire harness.
