Last season I blew up one of my engines. We were running premixed but didn't have enough oil in there or maybe the wrong kind. SBT replaced it and I haven't gotten around to installing it till now. I just recently put everything back together again and I'm ready to try this again. What type of oil should I be running premixed? They sell the QuickSilver brand and a few others at my Local Boat store. Is there anything I should be avoiding or looking for in my oils? The people at the store are no help and most of them give me unsure answers. Also at what Ratio should I be premixing?I'm planning on running premixed for the first few tanks untill my oil pump gets here in the mail(lost the old one over the winter.) I was told different things by different people. 40:1 32:1 52:1 and 50:1. I'm not really sure who to listen to anymore.

I believe its a 27 Gallon tank with a 2gal reserve. Please correct me if Im wrong. Its a 1998 Seadoo Challenger 1800 Twin 787
Thanks for the help.

I run a light pre-mix as well as my oil injection. The problem with oil injection is that the ratio changes depending on the throttle. I believe the numbers are at idle its like 80:1 and at WOT more around 50:1. Being that I am still running the injection as well as premixing, I mix at about 50:1 in the fuel. When you think about it, It is just extra insurance and after putting a new engine in the boat after having a 4 day weekend planned(and having one of the engines come apart 1st hour on the water) I figure it cant hurt.

well....... when you install a new engine you are supposed to run oil injection and premix for the first couple hours for the "BREAK IN PERIOD" if i were you i would wait till the oil pump got there and do it all at once. As for what oil to use only run API-TC LOW ASH 2 stroke synthetic oil in your 787.
