Hello,
I took my "new" 96 sea doo gtx out today, my third time out, and at just about full throttle she shut down. It started back up after a few cranks but would barely run. I shut down the engine an waited for it to cool down Once cool she ran again but died at the mouth of the harbor. Again I let it cool down before putting back to the launch ramp,

starts right up, although display says, low volt... I just put in a new battery,
sometimes when I put the key in, it doesnt register the display until i do it a cpl times then I can get the engine to crank

revs high onthe trailer and appears fine.....

I've never owned one of these things and dont know where to start

thanks!

clean the landyard and post with an eraser, make sure the landyard aint cracked anywhere. Along with the 12v low, if you have a voltmeter, get ski started, rev to 5500rpm, and while at that rpm, test the battery, should read, high 13/low 14 volts. If in 12's or 15's, then you need a new rectifier.

Any other probs, roll me up, i'm in o.c. all the time...chillin in Elsinore.

Hey what's up neighbor I'm in Oceanside!
What's the landyard? Wow I'm really clueless with thus thing, know a good service center?

"cough"...i'm my own service center...

You bomb'n in Dana Point? dig that place, most my pix in avatar are there, then chill out afterward at Doheney. Somewhat cool, just hit over the Ortega hwy, and BAM, right there, only on weekends though, since lakes right here, but WAY packed on weekends.

Landyard is the "key" and post, is the "red" slug look'n thing, that yuo install the landyard on. Inside the landyard, theres a metal strip, clean that with an eraser, and clean the post wit hit also. Also, do that thing with the voltmeter (Harbor Freight) 5 buks.

Ya man gotta sailboat in dp harbor, love that place! Okay il try the eraser, would that cause the ski to run like crap? After it stopped inbrhe middle of the pacific I got it started but it ran like crap, I figured it overheated and just let it cool... Seemigly did the trick

from original thread, sounded like it just crapped out, then restarted with no probs, then crapped out again...etc IF the landyard/post is dirty, you'll get that type of symptom. Did your ski, prior of taking a dump, did it act up?

It ran great, plenty of power out if the hole and fast. It just quit I wad going about 45/50
the temp sending unit is bad, it sounds off even when the engine is ice cold, so I've been running w/o it. So when it shut down I figured I overheated. The plot thickens, know of a good parts place? You doing that dp to oside race?

whens the race, or how i find out about it. you can hit the "parts" tab up top, or on craigslist, people scrap'n skies, in ur area

hers a link to th oceanside dana point race

Another reason I thought the engine overheated is that the stream of water that shoots out that back seemed pretty weak

However, when I was flushing it out it seemed to shoot out just fine.

Is that normal with hose pressure during flushing?

I've only had the ski out a couple times and I seem to remember that stream of water coming out with a lot of force compared to what I saw today when it acted funny

yeah, should be pissing good. then when water attached, probably blew out the piece of kelp. Remove some of the water lines, and blow compressed air into.

will the ski shut down like that if it gets too hot?

I've modified my ski to fish from, also would like to pull into some big surf
you race, looks pretty hard core
