I was wondering of anyone could answer this question for me. I have a just recently bought a new (but 2009) model RXP and a RXT (also 2009 model). So far I have only had the RXP in the water and still running it in. I have taken it up to full throttle a few times and it seems that just a bit over 6,000 RPM is the limit it will go. Someone told me that the engine management system restricts the maximum RPM until it has 10 hours on it then I should expect 8,000 RPM and was wondering if this is true. I have 7 hours on it now.

Are you using the learning key? This restricts the rpms. The full power key will enable the engine to acheive the rpms your talking about, regardless of the hours.

No im using the yellow (Standard Key). The green learning key has never been plugged in.

So I would be correct in expecting around 8,000 RPM on a new 255HP machine ?

Man I would think so. Maybe the dealer needs to look at the programming on that key. Sounds screwy to me

Hi. I'm sure it's the key. Fully agree with Bretster above on that. Get dealer to check key. Ask for new key to be programmed would be even better. Good luck with both your fantastic skis. An awesome product that your going to love. Just like I do mine. Scottozy
