Does anyone know who makes the temp sensors for the rotax engines in our boats? does rotax actually make it?

my vessel is a 95' seadoo speedster (657x) btw

Nope... Rotax doesn't make it. It's just a temp sender that has N.O. contacts, and goes closed around 200 Deg F. (1/8" NPT threads)

can you refer me to a substitute for this sensor? I mean I found it on the seadoo warehouse but I'm not sure I'm ready to spend $50 on a sensor (with shipping) before doing my hw.. ya know.

You may want to search for an electric fan switch also. I bet Jegs, or other performance shop will have something that will kick on around 200 Deg F for an aftermarket electric fan.

I was just searching on jegs actually. The trick for these is finding out whether they are always on or off, the item description usually doesn't include this.. :(

Did you end up getting one? Im in this same position and need to find one before my motor gets finished. The link to marinemanifold doesnt have the thread size listed even though I know Dr Honda said he referenced the part numbers.

hey i didn't wind up getting one just yet, unfortunately i have bigger fish to fry (wear ring grief...) but when I get down to it I will let you know where I wind up getting one and for the cheapest.. Do me the favor if you beat me to it!

this interchange of knowledge goin' on here is really saving the day for me... day after day after day... love it

Note -- that part will not work, I tried it. 3/8-18 has a threaded shaft far larger than the original part. Go with Doctor Honda's 1/8 NPT, if you can find it. I can also say that returns with ElecDirect are not easy.

No, that's a sender, not a switch. The thread size needed is NPT 1/8 -- 27. Anything labeled 3/8 -- 18 won't work. It looks like the original switch (which sits in front of me here at my office desk) was made by a Brazilian company called Indebras, and their catalog no longer lists it. I'm having a hell of time finding one, other than Bombardier. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay the $40/per part.

The one I posted is intended for a electric fan so would it not be a switch to indicate when the elec fan should turn on at a certain temp? And it is the 1/8 NPT so the threads are not the issue. Im in the same situation and am going to have to bite the bullet and be out $50 if I cant find another source.

Success! Pulled the old switches out, cleaned off the spade connections and all the carbon on the probes with 320 grit sandpaper. Hooked em back up with a touch of dielectric grease on the spades. Ran like a champ today for 2 hours with no overheat alarms.

Umm, temporary success. Happened again today, so I pulled the lead off the suspect switch and enjoyed some tubing. Guess I'll have to order the part.
