Took the carbs off one of my GTX's to clean. putting back on and noticed that the cable linkage going to the oil pump does not spring back. if I pull the cable by hand to move the lever it does not return on its own. I was wondering if this is normal or is there a broken/missing spring on that lever? everything moves freely. This is the motor that is oily inside the crankcase if that makes a difference. Thanks!

You’ll need to remove the cable and spin the lever arm around until the spring catches, and then reattach it. It’s a pain to do in that tight space, but it’s got to be done...

I ran into the same thing and was similarly educated, thankfully. You're going to be spinning it clockwise a turn or so, and the return spring hook end will catch on the round nub on the pump body that has the alignment mark.

Different engine, but probably looks the same ( red hook goes to black nub with line scribed on it).

I got mine hooked back up. thanks for the tips. question now is... is there any way to get this in the wrong position? It springs back like its supossed to but I dont know if I rotated it the right way as the spring had come off the lever. not sure which way I turned it to make it right but it would just spin around an around?
