04 gti rfi: replaced the engine with rebuilt after break in idling for 10 minutes it will not accelerate to 20% throttle for next phase. Pulled the plugs, the front plug showed lots of carbon due to install oil the back one was wet but no sign of firing. I know that they idle on the front cylinder which explains the lack of evidence of firing.

Original cause of engine failure was lack of oil in the counter balancer which seperated from the block. Somehow i missed the info to add oil every 50 hours. This is the second engine that i have installed in this ski, i have countless hours with my head under the seat.

Check the voltage of the battery 12.4 pre start and 13.6 running.

Changed the fuel injectors with known good spares.

Rechecked all the connections both electrical and water.

Tested fuel rail pressure was within spec.

Pulled rotoray valve and verified timing.

Jet pump moves freely with no obstructions

Compression is 150 per cyclinder

Engine starts and runs nice on trailer, will start on water just will not go much above idle?

Any ideas? TPS?

yes, would have minimum tps set into the mpem, also check and make sure the rear cylinder injector wiring is plugged into the injector and not the rave solenoid, also check plug on tps and air pressure sensor, they interchange also

rechecked all connections at sensors.
Verified correct wires to each.
Tested spark with spark light, both had spark.
pulled plug and ohm tested all sensors, all tested with in tolerance.

While testing i noticed that pin connector #21 had small amount of corrosion. Plugged connector back in and it would barely idle, gave it some gas and it stalled out.

Pulled connector plug and cleaned all connections with very small drill bit spun by hand. Added dielectric grease to all and reconnected. Now it would idle nice and accelerate on hose. Jiggled plug and it acted up again. Since pin #21 controls the second injector this would explain the clean plug as noted above and the inability to accelerate. Any ideas how to tighten the connection? It snapped in and appears tight.

you are better off to replace whole connector, go to a parts store and get a wire connector pigtail for a 93 dodge pickup truck with a 5.2 eng engine, its the same connector -- dodge uses bosch injectors, different part number injectors, but the wiring pigtail is the same ....

Just to make sure are you talking about the 24 pin connector or the 2 pin for the injector? my issue is with the 24 pin connector (female) side.

to fix that, you may have to pull pin from connector and match it up, there are lots of different types of pin connectors, if thats the problem, then it needs to come apart ... worse comes to worse, maybe nick can sell you a harness or a complete mpem connector

Zip tied it in place rode all afternoon without issue. Thank you griz400 will find new harness in off season.
