Reverse issues

I have a 2004 GTX that will go into reverse but will not come out unless I reach back into the back end and manually do it. Other than that it runs great. I checked the cables and everything looks good - when looking int the back end there is what appears to be somewhat of a "plug shape" thing attached to the cable when looking into the back end of it that comes out when the machine is placed into reverse -is it suppose to do that or is that my issue?

I replaced my pump housing and wear ring a few years ago and plan to fix this as well if someone could help me with what parts I need.

I'm female so be gentle.

Thanks,

Not sure what you are talking about there... can you snap and upload a pic of the reverse cable and "plug shape" thing?

Based on the schematic it is #31 direction cable lock. I just looked at it again and it appears the cable lock has backed out and one of the half rings has fallen out. I noticed the cable lock has threads on it so hopefully this is nothing more than replacing the half ring and screwing it back in. I think the cable lock broke - any tips on getting the broken part out?

Hmmmm.... I don't think my RXT uses the same setup for the reverse. Mine's pretty simple, a bolt holds the cable to the reverse lever on the pump nozzle.
