Replacing Oil Reservoir

I have a 2000 Seadoo GTI and the oil reservoir is leaking at the seam. I have ordered a new reservoir but I am not sure how to remove the 90 degree elbow on the bottom and the fitting for the oil return on the top of the reservoir. It looks like they would just pull out but they don't and I don't want to break them. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Also, once I have installed the new oil reservoir is there anything else I need to do before starting the engine? I read that you should do a pressure test on the system but don't know if this is really neccessary.:banghead:

oil tank

I replaced the oil tank on my '98 GTX Ltd last summer.

the red 90 was where mine was leaking as well.

it's not hard to get apart, I just pulled and it was fine.

If your digging around in there on the oil lines, now would be a good time to replace your oil filter... mine was 11 years old when I replaced it!

once you hook up the new one, there is a bleed screw on the oil injection pump, that will let u get any air out of the lines.

Sitting for a long time also seems to work most air to the top (few days)

I bleed the lines a bit, but didn't get much air in it.

I also added some oil to the gas just in case any air does make it to the oil pump... over oiled is better than no oil any day!

it was a tight, mostly blind fix, make sure to get your zip ties on.

Good luck! I did it :)

Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. Mine is leaking at the seam of the reservoir so I have ordered a new reservoir. But since I have it pulled out of the ski I thought I would go ahead and replace the seals at the red 90 and the top return line that you were talking about. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get it out. I tried just pulling on the red 90 but I feel like I am going to break it. But you say yours just pulled out? Yeah, I plan on changing the oil filter too. So once you have refilled the the reservoir and connected the hoses you just bled the air at the oil pump over a couple days? One other question. How much oil did you add to the gas? I know I tried running premixed after installing a rebuilt motor and I was going though spark plugs like crazy. I didn't realize at the time that the amount of oil being injected was related to the throttle position. So at low speeds I was injecting way to much oil causing the spark plugs to foul. So I went back to oil injection. I know this is way to much information but I was just wondering how much oil you added to the gas while still using the oil injection system. Also if you had any problems with fouling the spark plugs while running that tank through the system. Anyway, thanks again for the reply. I hope I can get those seals off.
