I bought a big piece of black marine vinyl to use for redoing the seat on my 1996 GTX, front and back seats. I pulled out all the staples from the old covers and now i have the bare padding. Anything i need to know before i try to cut and put on the new fabric? Should i let the padding dry out in the sun, b/c it is pretty wet5 from years of being used (im assuming thats why./ Does the padding need too be wet or should i make sure it is dry before i put the new fabric on?

Also should i just hold the new fabric on with staples like it had or should i also use some type of glue between the fabric and the plastic along with the staples.

Any special staples i need to use?

I used a heat gun for my 91 GT seat cover replacement it helps with the curves and makes a better looking job. Take your old cover lay it flat and cut the new one about 1" larger you can always trim any excess when your done.. If you have a upholstery shop close by let them stretch/staple it with a pneumatic staple gun if not then try using a lot of small staples.. Guling just makes it harder to remove the next time.... Yes dry out the foam first ....
Hope this helps... Good Luck..

Ok im going to try to start it tomorrow, my only problem is that the old cover was like molded to the seat like a glove and it wont just lay out flat for me to make a template for.
What should i do to make a good template

Just steal your wife's hair dryer, heat it up until it flattens out enough...
Or lay it out in the sun for a few hours....
