Quick question: will a dislodged bellow on RAVE cause a compression test to fail?

Had 97 GTX at repair shop, he said mag cylinder had compression problems, would not go into it any further. Wnated to rebuild engine. I didn't feel comfortable with his answer so picked up SKI and went home. Thought I would do some routine maintenance while waiting for a part, took RAVE valves out to clean and noticed one of the bellows came off seat. I cleaned and fixed, but don't have a compression gauge to test.

I have only owned this ski for about a week, broken wire harness on order, so haven't had it out yet.

I don't think it would make a difference. It is just a thin rubber diaphragm, and I doubt any of the compression is "trapped" or made in that area.

But, I personally would never trust a dealer until I put a pressure tester on the engine myself. How would you ever know if he actually did the top-end job. He holds onto the ski for 6 weeks, most likely longer. You get it back, pay him $800, and guess what...IT RUNS!!! He didn't touch a thing and lied about the poor compression.

This stuff happens all the time.

So spend the $15 and get one from o'reilly or autozone, pull the plugs, hook up the tester, and let er rip. then you will know for sure if there is bad compression.
