Hey guys,
I have been going through all the threads and gaining some valuable knowledge from you all! I used it to help buying my 2005 Challenger 180 with the S/C 215hp 4-tec. I know there is an issue with the ceramic washers, so I called the service guy at the place where I bought the boat in Cicero NY. They are going thru the boat today and delivering it on wednesday, when I spoke to him, it had not been hooked up yet to the computer. Also it has had no recall work and no issues from what he said using the VIN. It is a late build 05, built in May 05. So I asked him to inspect the washers and see what is in there, as it should be the steel washers and will have a bearing on the oil I run. He said it was a bit of work to remove the S/C and inspect the washers. So I said the forums want you looking at the washers every 25 hrs and rebuild every 100. He said that if they do break, it is usually in the first 25 hrs or if someone has been beating on it. So I would have liked the inspection to be done, and am not 100% satisfied and comfortable. So can I do the inspection when I get it home? What do you guys think? Thanks alot guys, I can't wait to get the boat here on wednesday!

Not sure about the ceramic washers, but it's obviously something you are concerned about, I'd make them verify the washers or else I'd be looking for another boat...

Well, I got my seadoo here in town. They hooked it up to the computer and it has 125 hours on it. So it averaged 25 hrs a year, this seems like low hours? I have a 30 day warranty on the powertrain so I am going to get it in the water asap. rick

washers

i just replaced my washers to the metal ones! i felt the same way you did with my 06 challenger! i pulled the SC off my self, it was only 3 bolts and you have to move the exhaust a little! but once i got it out i couldnt tell if they were bad or not! i couldnt even tell if they were metal or ceramic! so i paid 225 for the rebuild kit and 150 to have it buit from the dealer! so now i have a little piece of mind that my stuff is good to go! i have heard too many horror stories about those things messing up a lot of stuff! well good luck!
