Question about jet pump bearing.

Can anyone tell me if the impeller should spin freely once the pump is removed from the boat? I replaced my wear ring last Friday and when I tried to spin the impeller it had way more resistance than I was expecting(with the wear ring out), even though I have nothing to compare it to. It doesn't keep spinning on its own once you try to give it a whirl.

We had the boat out Sat and Sun and it ran great...unbelievable holeshot and faster than greased lightning, but the thought of that pump bearing is driving me nuts.

Maybe it has to be tight to keep the water out?

There may be a little drag from the seals... but it should spin free.

I was afraid you would say that.

Well, I have a bearing rebuild kit...so I guess I'm going to order the impeller shaft pusher and the seal/bearing pusher and replace this bearing. Or better yet, I'll have the shop replace it at the 50 hour maintenance. It's under warranty after all.
