Hello Everyone,

I am to go to the shore next month and I was going to take my boat. My boat has always been in fresh water and I'm alittle weary about putting it in salt water. It's just going to be for the weekend just wondering what I can do to keep the boat from getting all messed up. Any body do anything special to stop the salt water from screwing anything up?

Thanks

Great question. I was also wondering this week about riding my Doo in the Pacific.

There are a lot of screws that can get corroded, not only the engine, so, Big Mann thanks for popping the question.

As a yacht captain for many years, I can safely say that your boat will not melt when it hits salt water. We keep a number of water craft on board, and most have been on board for many years with no issues.

The best advice is to make sure you rinse everything well in fresh water when you are done. We rinse our boats down at the end of each day of use. It is also important to remember to flush out the engine. Either on the trailer or while it is in the water. Don't forget to flush the bilge area as well.

Don't forget to rinse your trailer off after each launch and retrieval. Salt water can be corrosive if left on, but is rinses off easily with fresh water.

I have always used my boats and skis in salt water. I take care of them as I am sure you will. They look like brand new including the engines.
