Putting ballast tanks on an 05 wake - possible?

I'm looking for a wake 155 that I can add the ballast tanks to - if it doesn't come with one already. I know the tanks are supposed to fit 06-09s.

I found a fair deal for an 05. Can I make the tanks fit? What's different from 05 to 06 that accommodates the tanks?

Guess I also need to know if the VTSTM (Variable Trim System) is an important part of making a good wake? And if it is if it's a feature of the 05s

Dealer doesn't know, Seadoo customer service told me to ask the dealer. Helpful.

Does anyone have a way to contact Seadoo tech people that would know? Does Seadoo watch this forum? They should if they don't.

Didnt know vts was installed pre '08 t hulls. Don't believe any hull changes occurred between '05-'06.

Vts I'd think be beneficial keeping the nose down on launch but then lifting it high for a decent plow. With a lil wrenching you could add vts to t hull that doesn't have it.

Good to know I can ad vts. Any idea of cost and how much of a PITA it is to do?

Must be some little change to something from 05 to 06. Maybe not the hull itself but something. Otherwise I'd think they would try to sell the tanks to people with 05s.

From what I can see on the schematic there might be an additional hose fitting on the pump and nozzle allowing you to fill the tanks.

Thanks. So if that's what's going on it wouldn't work without the correct pump. Doesn't sound like an easy switch/modification.

Swapping pumps is easy. Make sure it's for the correct hp ski. 215s and 155s, I think, have different spline count....depending on prop used.

I just found a fair deal on an 08 Wake 155 - already has the tank - so hopefully it works out and I won't have to worry about making something work.

I believe the 155 and 215 had different driveshafts, impellers, and driveshaft carrier bearings. As for VTS, youre going to have to dremel out the plastic boss for the VTS to go through. Then, you're going to have to mount it somehow. When I did my boat conversion, I had to drill and rivet a mounting point for the VTS, though I mounted a mid-90's VTS. Not sure how the new ones mounts, but I can't imagine they're very different.
