PTO Coupler 787 issue

Just got a 787 carb engine rebuild back and I can not get my PTO coupler back on. The threads on the crank look pristine and the ones in the coupler do as well. To be sure, I super cleaned the ones in the PTO still no luck. It does not even start to go on the threads.

I never had this issue and could not find previous threads on it. Is there any trick that I could try to get it on? Debating if I should just buy a new PTO coupler.

Is it a 95 xp800? Cause the threads are different on that year.

It is a 96 XP

However, it is not my core so i guess it's possible that it is a 95 xp engine. The serial plate has been painted over though. Is there any other way to check?

I'm not sure on that, where did you get the engine from?

Your best bet is probably to message him and ask him about it, could have used a 95 crank.

Already been in contact with him a bit will see if we can figure it out tomorrow. Just impatient hoping someone has encountered something like this

Update: talked to five star and he says my core did indeed have finer threads! So he is going to let me exchange my PTO for his that will work my crank.
