Has anyone expiermented with powder coating an aftermarket intake grate or aftermarket nozzle?

I was thinking about getting my jet dynamics grate i just purchased powder coated black, and also wanted to do an R&D nozzle the same...would this be bad to do for any particular reason? just curious..

Personally, I'd leave them as is or rattle can them. I re-powdered my stock nozzles on my Speedster a few years back and it's already flaking. I'm on the fence about doing it to my XP and HX. The easier thing to do would be to spray paint it, you can easily remove the paint and reapply it. PC parts are a royal pain to strip.

was it the inside part that was flaking? Because what i was thinking about doing is powdercoating just the outside and then polishing the inside.

Inside and out by the nozzle lip is where it flaked off. The big problem even with just doing the outside is corrosion. It will snake it's way under the powder or paint no matter how much you prep it. The castings are porous. I outgassed mine for a long time to bake out any impurities (water and oils) and the finish was glossy but "textured", I even etched the aluminum before I PC'd it. Nice looking but not as smooth as a babies bottom. So if you just do the outside the corrosion will creep from the raw aluminum under the PC or paint, it sucks. That's why I suggested painting, if it peels, chips, or whatever just strip it, and re-spray it. My guess is this is why they left them in raw finish, so it doesn't look like azz after a year.

whats some good polish to put on the end of my mothers polishing ball to make the inside shine

You answered your own question, Mothers. I don't use the fancy ball though. I use 0000 steel wool, mothers polish and elbow grease. Although I have seen the Mothers cone shaped deal, that might work real easy on the nozzle.
