:rofl::confused:Hello, first post here,
I have a Sea Doo speedster with 2 x 85 hp Rotax engines, it's a 1995 boat. My problem is this,At the first start it will turn over for about 30- 40 seconds then start and die once. Go to start it agen it will fire up no problem. (port engine) The starboard engine every now an then will do the same. Here are a few things I have done. Both Engine are new (new not a rebuild). All 4 crabs had a rebuild. As did the oil pumps.I put new batterys in. Jet pimps,paint,decals,seats, ECT....also the port engine revs slow it does have the power like the starboard engine it just revs slow . If any one has any help on this please share it with me Thanks in advance .

Sounds like, it could be multiple things. Did you rebuild the carbs, if so, did you replace the oem n/s springs with ones in the rebuild package? Did you set the RV timing correctly? Are all the clamps secured/tight on all the fuel lines, exhaust couplers..etc?

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Today I tryed switching carbs from one engine to the other. Well when I was taking the fule lines off I noticed that the engine that is giving me the trouble had no gas in the lines. So I'm changing the fule lines and clamps as we speek. As soon as I am done I will post a up date. thanks again guys. O yea Also are these boats stiff to change from forward to reverse thanks

take off the air filter and put the palm of your hands over the carbs and get someone to crank the engine for about 10 seconds this should draw the fuel up very quickly .ive just read a post just like this in the premium section .
also a primer bulb can be put inline to prime carbs manualy.
proberbly depends on my sportster 2002 single 130hp it was easy to change shifter also easy on my 98 speedster twin 110hp
but ive just bought 05 sportster 215 and the shifter is hard to change.
so it depends proberbly,maybe try lubeing your bucket cable?

Ok after replacing all the fule lines and clamps and O rings on the fliter cups. It will start right up now, but the one engine will rev slow no change on that yet.Thanks ski33 I took off the buckets cleaned and lubed them both and much better to shift now.To day I am going to pick up some new plugs and give it a nother try. Here is what is in there now NKG-B9ES any suggestions on a better plug? thanks guys

if you can get hold of some iridium plugs they are much better !there a bit more $ but will outlast standard and even give a small performance gain!
did you try the method i gave you for drawwing the fuel up to the carbs?
keep us posted!

Hey guys well I went to the auto store and they sold me 4 NGK IRIDIUM IX SPARK PLUGS that ran 68.07$ wow.But I think it was worth it. After I put the new plugs in it revs great now sounds very strong. I did try holding my hands over the carbs it did pull the fule up fast. I am going to take it out tomarrow and see what happens. I was having a problem with the batterys going dead (the new ones ) and I was told that I am sopost to keep a charger on them when not in use. Well I did not think that even sounded right I can see if it was to set for a long time then charge them befor you use it , but all the time?I would think it would cook the batterys. So I just put a battery shut off on it. So far so good. after I take it out I will post and up date every one Thanks guys

you can but a charger called an optimizer its what the use on bikes to keep the battery tip top it only gives of a very small tricle charge .
on mine there is a seqence of lights giveing the charge and it has auto shut off so it wont cook the battery.
or just remove the earth lead on the battery.
glad to hear the plugs worked you should notice the difference with aridium. sometimes its easy to go for the plugs first!esecialy if you add oil to your fuel like i do!

Hey guys. Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate it. I took it out today it did very good. It toped out at 54 mph ( gps said the same ) with 2 people the combined weight of 300 lbs, 1/2 tank of oil and 3/4 tank of gas is that good for the 2 x 85 hp Rotax engines?:cheers:
