Hi, Can anyone tell me what kinds of special tools/lubes/adhesives, I will need in order to remove and replace the impeller & intake grate, and possibly the wear ring/housing if needed on my 2000 seadoo speedster w/ merc. m2.

Also, Ive attached a few pictures of why i am replacing my impeller and intake grate... The housing looks like it's also in rough shape, but its just scratched - No really big dings or notches in the housing... Do you think I can get by with keeping the same housing and just replacing the impeller? How much will performance be reduced?
Thanks For the help...

wow

I would go with the complete overhaul, especially since your gonna have to take it all off to get to that impeller. I'm no expert, but my lawn mower blade looked better before I sharpened it a couple days ago....:) I know that the housing is just as important as the impeller. It needs to be smooth w/ no scratches or grooves in order to get maximum propulsion. I know that previous posts have outlined all the tools needed to remove everything. I have never had to change mine (knock on wood), but I would replace your housing.

looks to me like somebody turned your boat upside down and was putting chunks of concrete through it to try to make gravel.

...what joel said x2...

Thanks....will replace both impeller and wear ring.
What about the housing around the impeller & wear ring? Or can that be buffed out and smoothed out?

I did mine myself. I replaced the stock impeller with a Solas. I did not change the housing though mine looked a bit better then yours. My stator was all banged up too so I filed down the edges. It seems to be running good and I get 47mph out of it consistently. I just barely hit 50 mph the other day on calm water with about 1/3 tank of fuel, 2 kids and another adult. I am betting if I changed the stator and housing I would consistently get 50mph out of it. I definetly reccomend the Solas impeller. It is also cheaper then stock if I recall correct. I bought a flat grate and threw my hydrocrap grate as far as I could throw it !:reddevil: If you have any questions let me know.

Also just so you know there is no wear ring on the Mercs. The housing is the wear ring. You have to change the entire piece which is a very poor design IMO.

Housing

Replace the housing, you don't want to take it apart twice when you could just do it the first time. It will cavitate, you will lose some propulsion. The gap between the impeller and the housing is very minute for a reason, any deviation from a huge gouge, groove, or expanding the gap by sanding or polishing will result in loss of performance.

Great... Thanks for the advice, and i will replace the housing and do it all at once..
Does anyone know what special tools or adhesives i will need to purchase to do this job, or can i do it with basic hardware/tools?

You can do it with everyday tools. Just pick up some Mercury High performance gear lube for the stator and pump. Also get some Mercury special lube and some lock tight for the bolts.

May as well change the seal in the stator while you have it off.
