I took my ski out for the first time this season and the steering nozzle broke off as I was accellerating. It wasn't bound up, was plenty loose before heading to the water. The top bolt sheered off and then the bottom of the nozzle broke away from the force of the jet pump. It also ripped my cable out of the cable lock, breaking the cable lock. I was able to replace the parts from an extra parts ski I have. I noticed that the bottom bushing on the nozzle is reversible and that the current position tilts the nozzle up slightly. That makes it pivot off center. I reversed the bushing so that the nozzle is now perfectly centered on the venturii. I think that this will put less stress on the nozzle. I didn't hit anything yesterday so I don't think that caused it to break. I noticed that the center of the stainless bolt that snapped was corroded and must have weakened it. I've seen steering cables snap off on the ends too and had the same corroded appearance in the center.

Wow... not a common thing to happen. But... since the bolt broke... it could have been old damage that just finally failed. If the ski slid off the trailer... or, was backed into something... there could have been a minor crack... and it just finally gave out.

Glad you are back up and running.
