Has anyone had any experience on plasti dipping their ski?.. i have a project i'm working on and i'm thinking of doing this to the top half of the hull.. i've dipped several cars and trucks already and have the equipment necessary for dipping, just not sure.. any suggestions, experiences and maybe pics of your dipped ski if you have one would be cool and appreciated... thanks all

If you do a quick google , i found some info on www.youtube.com, i thought about doing this but i dont think it holds up the best. The one guy did his skis but at the end of every year had to touch it up.

The spray on bed liner might be an option for the hull, but it is not smooth. So it will hold dirt, and slow you down.

It's got 52 hrs on it since I done it. Also after I used por15 I put a coat of the epoxy spray paint over it to get the gloss black

Glsmohio did you just dip the bottom with plasti dip, or did you use orange on the top portion? I can't imagine it looking that bright and glossy from plasti dip..

I did the handlebar pad on my HX with the smoke/black rubber spray from rustoleum, not the plasti-dip brand, and I like it.. It came out great.. Haven't had time to do the kneepads, but I can't wait bc the material is old and it flakes off and is sticky.. The rubber coating works wonders. When I've used spray paint (I first painted it with spray paint) it would flake off when I hit it with the hose, even if lightly sprayed it..

How much weight does that lining add? I know a lot of spray on liners are pretty heavy

Non of that ski is plastic dip. The bottom is por15 bed liner with black epoxy paint over it. The top is car paint that I painted and cleared....I played around with plastic dip and had no luck with it

If I remember right the the gal of por 15 was 10 lbs and I did 2 skis with it and still have a good inch in the can....I would say max it added 4 to 5 lbs

Well you're pretty handy with a paint gun. Great job on the orange
