So took my gsx out to the lake yesterday...ran like a raped ape full throttle for about an hour. Was running about 6750-6800 max rpms. Idled perfect at about 1480-1520 rpms. Go to slow down under a bridge and i realized that it was running about 1400 rpms. Kept going anyways, slowed down again and was idling at about 12-1300 rpms. Kept going and realized that i could only get 6400 rpms max. Went back to the dock and was idling about 1000 or less and finally died at about 800 rpms. Opened up the seat and saw white smoke and realized that the high temp coupler hose was broken, and i believe that it was choking the engine out. This is the second time that this hose has broken in less than a year. First time a stick had gotten stuck in the hose going into the waterbox rave valve. Checked the hoses, they are good. I dont see any leaks in the tuned piped (1 weld had been replaced before). Noticed i had a small (very small) hole in the bellow of the water rave valve that i think was caused from moving up and down and hitting a sharp edge of the zip tie that i had cut off when i replaced the rusty steel clip with a zip tie. I put some epoxy on the hole, and i think it should hold, and i trimmed the sharp edge of the zip tie so it was flush and not sharp now. Could that little whole be enough to overheat my pipe and blow out that coupler? I am having a hard time believing that, but dont know what else it could be. After i fixed it last year i took it out about 3-4 more times and didnt have a problem.
