ok so i need lots of help

my 97 seadoo xp wont start ... i just changed the starter .. seliniod.. plugs

i put the plugs in the wires and touched to engine to check for spark ... got that


my beeper doesnt work though so i cant here if there are any beeeps coming out

also just replaced battery last night casue found out the less then 1 year old one was dead ...

motor turns over fine and definly has a lot of compression but imma do a compression check today

i also sanded all conections to make sure they have a good ground and positive connection ...

i have a carb rebuild kit buy miniki but havent done that yet nore the fuel lines which the lines will probly be done today ...


i have poured a bit of gas into the carbs and nothing .. also poured some into the cyclinder nothin....


i checked all fuses in the front .. but liek i said i have spark .. i dont think i would have that if something eletrical was wrong

Well.... you have spark... and since you poured fuel into the engine... you have that. SO... I'd say your compression is NOT there.

Get a compression number, and post back.

While you are working on the ski... make sure the rotary valve is spinning. By any chance, has it been converted to Pre-mix?

weres the rotary valve? and about the pre mix .. girl i bought it from said yes but i dont think so looks like there is pure fuel in the gas tank .. i havent drained it yet .. she is a women and 90 % kno nothning about motors .. she prolby just yesd me to death .. all day today i will be working on this thing casue im off from work

The rotary valve is between the intake, and the engine case.

When people convert to pre-mix... and don't really know about a Rotax engine... they remove the oil tank, and they oil starve the rotary valve gears. When that happens... the gears eat themselves, and the valve stops spinning. Then... the engine doesn't run.

Seadoo's have some oddities that other jetskis don't have. You should find the service manual, so you know about them.

also the compression is identical in both cyclinders 150 psi after 3 spins .. i can see the pressure jump after each rotation so i count 3 to get to 150 but i also held it to 5 secs and its stayed at 150 maybe 153 max on both ...

but they are both identical

Welll goood news guys igot the ski goin!!!!!!!! After alof of hard work and cleaning parts draining gas and taking shyt apart igot it goin ..... wen it idles though it isn't ruff but it isn't smooth either .... I dunno how it is sopsoe to be imma watch some videos on youtube in a bit .... but I hooked the water up everything flows good from the side and all it pees lol


A lot ofoilcame out on first start and a lot of smoke ... now it barley smokes jsut a lil ... I dunno if that is normal eitehr I firgure it is cause 2 stroke and also how do I kno prpoper oil isflowing

well also wen i shot the video my bad i turned the fuel line off lol and i think i leaned it out a bit hope i didnt hurt anything ... so the smoke was worst in the video then normal .. it is 2 stroke but pure gas in the gas tank i think it is mixing it self im guessing if the oil pump wasnt working there wouldnt be smoke like that and i probly would have seized the motor already

correct. they smoke a lot when they just get running from sitting a while. when i de-winterized my gts this past spring my neighber called and asked if my house was on fire. and when i got my xp running again(it was sitting for 2 years) the was a huge cloud behind me as i ideled away from the dock and it smoked for a good ten mins before it stoped.

looks in the video like you have the hose turned on before starting the ski?
start ski
turn on water
turn off water
shut off ski

otherwise you can flow water into the cylinders. maybe that's why you had so much trouble getting it to start?

ok i will do that next time witht he water but no when i tryed to start it i never even had the hose hooked up casue i was in my garage working on it ... the girl told me start and then turn hose on so i firgured i would get the hose on it when i got it working .. when i did the video i just had it runnign and shut it off to start the video and i never turned the water off to start
