Yes, however it was really weird because it took several minutes for anything to come out at all!! I almost turned back, then near the breakwater I brought it up to about 10 mph so pushing but not on plane and then it started to squirt at which point I felt better!!!

Yep, nothing to do with cooling.

Yamaha claims they put it there for safety but I think them being Japanese were actually putting a little bidet feature on there to outdoo the French Seadoo engineering team, show who's really the boss. Did you know, the Japanese are masters at designing toilets, they've got all kinds of features integrated you'll never imagine or see anywhere else so why not a gay tail? I think Yamaha couldn't resist. It's doubtful the effort went completely unnoticed by seadoo?

In my previous life I had a twin screw Tiara 33' express cruiser, with that I had a couple nice ski's!
To attempt to keep it short, new fiancé's dog comes with us and ****ing falls in drowned in front of us.
Next seen all boats gone!
Since then I bought my 42' bus that a few of you have seen.
Then I talk the wife into lake cruising with PWC's
All that to tell you that, NO, I am not going to be using inc my ski's in salt water, that's why I was so careful to buy freshwater ski's

Had to ask...

Wow! That is absolutely insane.. The rooster part, but even more so the dog part.. Wow..
I honestly thought thought that ALL dogs did the doggy paddle by nature.. I even had this little Yorkie years back that would literally keep jumping in the pool to chase a basketball til it was out of breath, but it would STILL paddle. After that, it forced us to buy one of those doggie vests with the shopping bag handle on it JUST in case..
 
RE: the rooster tail... the official term is visibility spout.. it will help other boats see you coming from about a mile a way and actually for THAT purpose its effective... but IMO its more annoying than helpful, nobody will want to ride 20 feet behind you (not that they would anyway if premixing), if you have to tow somebody the spray will hit them right on top of the head, and if the wind is behind you at idle, you'll occasionally get sprayed with a cold splash which sux....

anyways, if you look down underneath near the pump, you should see the short hose that connects up to the hull, just pop that hose off, and the visibility spout is gone... I actually left mine dangle there, it didn't get in the way of anything, and a couple of times when I was riding offshore I connected it again (no clamp, just shoved it on)

some people get all complicated and put a shut off valve there and such, but just popping it off is the easiest way. Especially if you have long idle's from the ramp to the channel.

1) I'm surprised that it took that long to spray, must have been clogged with debris, normally it sprays even at idle....

2) I'm glad you made it back, (constructive criticism here) but taking the two kids was a bit of a ballsy move for a maiden voyage,,, too many unknowns with that ski at that point...I would have been riding solo and very much preferred to have another ski with me at the time...

The two big concerns would have been
a) it dies on the water and your getting towed (no treat with 3 riders)
b) it sinks and now 3 of you are floating...

But very glad you made it back...

I was actually pretty scared, I stayed illegally close to shore. But yes it was a bit stupid to have the boys with me. I had my cell phone and handheld CB with me. I'm also glad it worked out!!!

yea, I was surprised you took the kids with you too.. did you back it down the ramp and run it on the trailer first to check for leaks?

and yes, glad to know you guys made it back..I've heard HORROR stories on here..one was something like dude was 3 miles off shore, no one in sight, no cell/radio (if I remember correctly) and got stuck/stranded and I think he was stuck for something like 7 hours till about 12-2am before someone got him...
scary stuff dude.

btw, did anyone try jumping in after the bulldog?
just curious, and if it was close to a ramp, the water isn't that deep. were you guys able to recover the dog?

As far as the Louie incident, we were off Catalina island, right around January 1 and the water was ****ing cold, my soon to be wife was pregnant and hysterical trying to go in after him. I went in but without a wet suite it was not ok to be in too long. Sun was already setting and I was having a hard time getting full breaths of air. So I got out and headed for the mainland as quick as I could.
It was actually pretty hairy, something I won't forget

well I know exactly how bad it mustve been for you... we had a "cold snap" down in the keys two july's ago (Only 50's nothing like up north cold snaps) and the wind blew one of the lab experiment containers into the canal, so my dumb ass volunteered to go to the bottom of the 17 ft deep canal with zero viz to go get it.. I could barely see my hands in front of my face, and even with the wetsuit on, it was so shockingly cold (than what I'm used to) and it was like impossible to get a full breath.

again, crazy story. and btw, those Yakers were probably pissed from your wake, even if it was a no wake zone

Water temps were around 50 maybe a bit colder, not fun without a wetsuit! I'm glad you know what I mean though and once your head goes under, whoa buddy!!

Lol at the "yakers" it was actually just outside the breakwater so they were getting some wake!!! Back and fourth!! Now that I think about it they probably have just watched us sink.

Dude your a genius!! You know unistrut is used extensively in my business, seriously!
4' would be plenty with strut 90's anchored to the floor.
Only problem is the need for a fork lift to load the rack

Forklift need is not a problem ... quick perusal in CL will find you one. Disguising it so the wife does not recognize it for what it is may be a problem.

I find I can lift the small SeaDoos from the rear with the forklift, just need a batch of carpet wrapped over the forks and a line around the rear lift loop and under the forks to keep it from tipping/sliding forward. You can extend the forks a little with steel tube, but always test that you do not have an unstable forward load (bad scene to tip ski/forklift over on its nose) by lifting a couple inches and testing for stability.
