This is where it gets weird (as if it's not already) I have all lien papers filed and all and apparently it's NEVER been registered!! And I see no evidence that there's ever been a hull sticker on it!!
Did I mention it got 60 hour on it?
Where do you suppose he put those hours on it? Private lake?

i'd still back it into the water on the trailer and fire it up at least.... but that's me, I have like 9 ramps to choose from lol

yea, I wouldn't be all paranoid..if you keep the title WITH you (probably in your vehicle and not on the water) and literally stay right there close to shore, and just do a "test run" and not tons of 360's and gassing it, I think you'll be ok..if you get stopped, just tell them you just paid X amount of dollars for it and you're water testing it.. and show him the title in your vehicle for it proving you just got it..

hell, it even worked for me as a teen when I would ride my dirtbike down the street to get to the trails.. "I just bought it!"

just for chits and giggles...

Time lapse rust video...

61 hours until the PO got caught with no registration, surely you could rack up 30 minutes! Maybe a bad idea though, considering the law is already onto you for bootlegging and driving without a license. :)

If you were really worried about getting to it before rust takes over then I'd say pickle it by filling the block with diesel fuel till you can run the ski. The diesel fuel will absorb and suspend any trace amounts of water and is the standard treatment for a flooded engine hauled out in a place where it can't quickly be restarted.

The problem is dealing with all the diesel fuel, you'd have to find a way of recovering it from the engine without making a total mess.

You googled me??? How dare you?
So I'm actually leaving work now to go home and jerry rig a hose feed and at least run it on the hose for a while!!! Now that's dedication!

Maybe I should do that??!!!! But then how do I get the diesel out

not sure if those Yamasaki's are the same as the doo's but on the doo's I poke a hole in a 20 oz bottle of Cokaina and fill it with water and dribble it on the carbon deal if running in on the hose for more than a minute or two.. and it DOES get hot...even after that, I feel the carbon ring and its warm..

Really? More issues?

issues? well on the seadoo you cant just run it on the hose forever bro, im assuming those yamis are the same

Yeah, we'd do that on a $10k mercruiser engine or something like that and the insurance company would probably pay us. In that case we have to deal with a mess by pumping the crankcase out, and each cylinder.

For your ski, I thought those have a crankcase drain? So you'd drain the diesel fuel from the crankcase into the bilge and catch it in a bucket as it runs out the transom bilge plug (disable the bilge pump if there's one).

Then you'd need to suck the diesel fuel from the cylinders as well, I use a cheapo 12v electric fuel pump for similar tasks.

It can be done, it's just a little messy, not sure if you want to deal with that. If you do, avoid cranking the engine while it's full of fluid, that can blow the crank seals out of it.

If I was interested in running my seadoo on the hose for an extended time I'd just remove the stainless ring c-clip and release the carbon bellows tension. This eliminates the heat from friction against the carbon ring.

Even if you didn't release the tension and damage occured as a result, it's much less expensive to replace a carbon seal than an entire engine even if the seal/boot are damaged. The downside of course is the labor and parts expense.

Go to the hardware store buy the same numbers that are on your XP (leave that ski at home). Put said numbers on you yama-turd and go ride it. Put duct tape over Yama-log and if you get caught tell them you must have f'd up putting the numbers on the wrong ski. You're not going to jail, sweet talk your way out of it, show some leg.
