My neighbor hasn't run his 96 GTX's for a couple of years and when I saw him spraying quick start directly into the carb I told him that was not a good idea. I fetched a pint spray container and plan on mixing three TSP of SD oil with a pint of gas which according to my calculations of 40-1 should be right. If it starts, then I will clean out his gas tank and get him on his way. Did I calculate the mixture correctly?

If you are going that far, disconnect the fuel line from the fuel pump. But 40:1 is correct on the ratio.

But the big question is, did I do the calculation correctly for a pint: 3 tsp of oil to a pint of gas? Everything I find on the web relates to gallon equations.

1oz/quart is 32:1, this is the mix I use in my squirt bottle. Okay, maybe sometimes I use a little more oil than that but this is enough.

That would be, 4oz/gallon = 1oz/quart = 1/2oz per 1/2 quart Well mu squirt bottle might be shy of a quart (depending on which bottle I'm using) but I still dump 1oz in there. I figure that dry cylinder could use a little extra lube.

Okay so if you're using teaspoons then 1 US teaspoon = 0.166666667 US fluid ounces thus 1/0.16667 = 6 teaspoons/ounce and 3 teaspoons per 1/2 oz of oil mixed with 1/2 quart gasoline is 32:1

Don't let the wife catch you with her teaspoons, muffin baking pans are great for sorting bolts during an overhaul just write in sharpie pen which cup holds what, stack them as you go. Throttle off the turns and keep your bird clean.
