Oil level question

so my 97 XP was starting to get low on oil. (probably little less then a quarter tank left of oil) The red light came on. does this red light only mean its getting low on oil or does it indicate anything about the engine temp? just wondering if it is giving me a heads up on my oil level or if the engine is getting too hot.

Crappy design...

Nothing to worry about, as long as you verify that you have oil in your injection tank.

The little float that makes contact to turn that light on, when the oil level gets low, is not the best design in the world......

If it's annoying, disconnect it at the connector but remember, you have to visually check that level in your tank every time you gas up. Since you usually use 4 or 5 tanks of gas to one tank of oil, it's easy to remember to check that oil level when fueling.............:cheers:

perfect! thanks man. i let my cousin drive my xp that day and he decided he needed to help tow a sailboat 10x the size of my ski across the lake. i was worried that could have overheated the engine
