Oil injector cable issue

Hi - new to the forum, just bought my first Sea-Doo (99 GSX Limited 951). The ski ran pretty well on test run etc, but a bit smokier than I thought it should be. Long story short, I went through and replaced the leaking oil tank and all the lines. While doing so, I noticed there was no preload tension on the oil pump. Cable was attached and opens fully at WOT, but never really closes down much. Thus the smoking I assume. As I was trying to wind it back up and put the cable on, I noticed the cable is frayed on the end and only holding by one strand. Is there an effective way to repair these ends if there is enough adjustment? If not do I really have to replace the entire split throttle cable or is it possible to just replace the insides of the oil pump side?

Looking for any advice. I think the cable assembly is 277000838

You are going to have to replace the cable. As for the pump look a the winding of the spring. It should have enough tension to pull the cable and try to close the oil pump arm.
