Oil injection or premix?

Hey guys first time post but I have a question. I have a '97 challenger 1800 that had a fresh rebuild when I bought it last summer. It runs great and don't have any problems but my question is, how reliable are the oil injectors on this boat? Can I run it hard all summer with the fuzzy feeling that my engines are always getting proper lubrication or should I just forget the injectors and premix? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I don’t have enough time on mine to know firsthand… but… they are suppose to be very reliable.

The main problem is people don’t change the little filter, and it plugs up. (starving the engine for oil) or, the vinyl hoses crack, and draw air. Either problem isn’t a “Pump” problem, but it’s still something that wouldn’t happen if you were running a premix.

I’ve had old dirt bikes, (back in the 70’s) that had injection pump problems, and I’ve had Kawi and Yamaha watercraft that the injection pumps were pulled after the warranty was over because of high failure rates… but I left the one on my 96 Sea Doo boat because they are suppose to be reliable.

Just some input for you.

Thanks for the input. I know these boats have warning lights and such. I just think if I bypass the inputs and premix then I know and don't have to worry about it. I just love my boat too much to spend all summer rebuilding an engine instead of scaring the kids by doing kittys.
