Oil in Top of Engine in Piston Area

Hi everyone,
This is my first post on here so bear with me if I'm too vague on explaining everything.

I have a 97 Sea Doo Speedster that someone is giving me to use if I can get it up and running. It had been sitting up for about 2 yrs with no use. I got the starboard engine running and it's running good. The port engine however has a bit of a problem. I took the plugs out of the engine and gave the start button a push just to let the motor try to turn. The engine sprayed oil all over the place. I looked down into the engine and one side is full of oil. I turned it a few more times with rags over the top hoping it would just clean out the excess oil but something keeps filling the top end of the pistons with oil. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and what it might take to fix it? The engine is in great condition in all other aspects. I would appreciate any input that anyone can give me or maybe let me know whom I would need to ask on here directly.

My guess is something is going on with the check valves on the oil pump that are causing them to stay open. Not sure if that's right but that's the best I have came up with on my own so far. Although, I did have one person tell me that it could be the cranks seals. Once again any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason
