Oil filter cap not seated

I have a 2012 GTI 130SE and just did an oil change last night. (Did one last year also.)

After changing the filter and o-rings, I noticed that the cap doesn't seem to sit all the way down. Using a mirror, I can still see the upper o-ring and there is about a 1/8" gap or less before the cap would be all the way seated.

I have it on tight and it's not leaking when I run it. I didn't pay particular attention to see if there was a gap when I removed the cap and filter.

Google did find a post on another forum and the OP was told this is normal. I couldn't find anything here, but thought I'd ask because I don't normally stop in the middle of a ride to check my oil filter cap. :)

Thanks!
Jay

I have the exact same ski as you, just a year newer, and I just changed my oil for the first time this past Sunday and had the same issue. Everyone I've talked to said its fine. It's apparently normal for the top o-ring to show. I ran the ski for about ten minutes checking for leaks but had none.
