Oil coming out of the cooling system indicator and back of ski

I have a 2000 RX with the 951 engine. Put a top end on it last year but did not get a chance to ride it. Just started it up and ran it on the trailer with a hose hooked up. After shutting it off there is a large amount of oil coming out the side cooling system indicator and out the rear of the ski. What could be causing this to happen? Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

Most of the time it is that your oil tank has a crack along a seam,,,facing the gas tank,,so,,,you never see it,,,,or it has a crack on the bottom of the tank.that you also can't see.

There is oil in the hull so the tank must be leaking but I didn't think it would then come out where it did after running it. So the crack and leaking oil into the hull will come out of the side cooling indicator?

No,,,oil should not come out pissers,,,strange,,,something is not right!,,,it has to be impossible for oil from the tank to get into the water jackets!

I didn't think it could come out from the pisser if it was from inside the hull. I did not notice it while I had it running, but a good sized puddle of black sludge was sitting below the hole in the driveway when I looked at it about 10 minutes after I shut it off.

Still looking for things that could be causing this. Anyone have ideas or suggestions on what to look for? Any thing would be appreciated.

Not sure I understand. You said there is oil in the hull?

If so, many old seadoos leak from the bottom of the oil tank. You can stop the leak by replacing the rubber grommet around the oil fitting at the bottom of the tank. Buy one from OSD parts if you see oil in that area.

I had oil sitting in the bottom of the hull because of that leak. Then when I fired up the ski it'd eject water and oil as it drained the bilge.

Correct, there is oil in the hull and I'm sure that the tank is leaking. And thanks for the suggestion on what to look for or replace to stop the leak. But the bigger issue I am concerned about is where is the oil coming from that comes out of the pisser on the left front the the ski. I don't believe that has anything to do with the bilge draining, does it? As far as the manual shows this pisser comes out of the exhaust manifold.

I don't know where else it came from. The black sludge was located right below the hole in the hull where water shoots out of when the engine is running. The sludge didn't appear until a few minutes after I turned the engine off. I would love to send you pictures, but I did not want to leave the pile of black oil in the driveway so I dried it up with floor dry.

Can some thing internal in the engine cause this to happen?

The only connection from the combustion chambers and cooling water is the exhaust or head o-rings.
I have seen skis with leaking needles and seats dump a ton of black liquid sludge out of the exhaust and cover a driveway. I guess if there was enough sitting in the exhaust pipe it could get blown into the cooling lines as I have seen exhaust smoke come out of the pisser when running out of the water from backpressure and no water flow.

Thank you for the reply. Being new to jet skis, assuming the carbs would have to be pulled off to check the needles and seats? Can they be removed without taking off the exhaust pipe?

My 951 once had a warped head and a leaking head gasket. A small amount of oil seeped out from under a head bolt while it was running. It could have easily been seeping into the water jacket too. So, its a possibility. However, I don't think it was enough to actually show up in noticeable amounts in the pisser or out the back.
