Nozzle bolts sheared off!

2009 GTi SE 130, 35 hours.

I took it out for the first time of the season yesterday and it did wonderful. Started on the first push of the start button everytime. Just before putting it up, I pulled a friend on his wakeboard a few times. On the final time, as I pulled him out of the water, the seadoo felt like it popped out of forward and into neutral.

Long story longer, once I got it out of the water, I discovered that out of the four bolts that hold the nozzle on, the top two have sheared off and the bottom two had loosen up to at least 1/4". Obviously the whole nozzle/steering/reverse assembly was loosey goosey.

Had anyone else had this occur? The strange part is, the bottom bolts appear to be bottoming out in their hole as if they were too long to begin with?

1 year warranty issue hopefully...

Loose bolts

This should be a warranty issue. Did the dealer do the 10 hr. service? The bolts probably were'nt tight when you got the ski. These loose bolts are not a common problem. Part of a 10 hr. service is to make sure things on the ski are not falling off.
Good Luck, DAWG

Unfortunately, the dealer did not do the 10 hour maint. We did. The past several seadoos we have own have been close to bulletproof, at least for the first 5 or so years. We've never had a "defect" like this.

The real strange part is that the bottom bolts APPEAR to be too long. I put a wrench on them and gave them a slight turn to the left and they turned fine. When I went to tighten them back up, they turned fine that stopped... like they bottomed out. They're no where near tight. At least an 1/8" from even being snug.

Figured I post this here because if SeaDoo used the wrong size bolts on mine, thought there might be similar stories posted.

If anyone does work other than a certified BRP technician, otherwise you, then i think your out of luck on the warranty thing.. The stealerships gonna find a way to blame it on you unfortunately.
