i have recently purchased a seadoo gsx 800 1997, i bought it very cheap as a non runner, ive got it running and had 2 hours of good riding with no real issues, top speed hitting 58mph and fast acceleration, i took it out on saturday and it run ok for 5 mins then wouldnt go past 3200 rpm, i got it home and thought it could be problem with carbs as have the old grey fuel lines, on inspection of the engine bay a found that there was 1 broken rear engine mount, could the broken mount be the reason the engine wont rev whilst in water but it revs ok out of water, any help would be appreciated, also i fitted a new battery but the low 12v warning light comes up when the vts is used, i have noticed the ground lead doesnt look to good so could this be causing the warning light, thanks

rebuild carbs

Bad fuel delivery system. Update it! Check the regulator/Rectifier, replace if bad. Bill

Might be water in the VTS box. Check the boot, that commonly fails.

Check spark plugs as well. One of my ski's had a similiar problem, It would only rev up to 3500 and then bog. I clipped the plug wire leads and reinstalled the boots and all was well.

Compression test and verify oil system is drinking, then redo the carbs while changing the grey fuel lines, now that you have it prepared to run reliably you will want to verify the charging system while you are dipped on the trailer - check for any liquid leaks and then lift the throttle a bit to get the juices flowing and check the charging voltage.
