G'day
I have a 1995 SP Seadoo, it runs great and handles great but while it idles there is a knocking sound,it doesn't seem to be there while you are going along, i checked the engine mounts and they needed replacing at the shaft end of the motor so i did so but it still has the knocking sound.Any idea's of what it could be would be appreciated.
Also i have a 1996 SP Seadoo it has a different pick up grate than the 1995 but goes faster, is this the reasion why?

The knock sound could be several things, are the air cover slides latched? when you did the mounts did you grease the pto? alignment of driveshaft - if you kept the shims in original spot you should be OK, there is a rubber cushion on each end of the driveshaft that could have been forgotten in a pump repair or could be pulverized from long life.
Speed can be low compression, prop pitch, carb jetting, pump ring worn away - many factors in the speed situation that may not be close to equal.

Hows it going, the sound your hearing could be the Impeller bearings rattling inside the pump, i have this with my ski too, but it is completely normal. Some people purchase anti rattle cones to get rid of this, but its pretty pointless as i dont find it annoying what so ever. For more info on this subject go to this thread, and scroll down to seadoosnipes post, it will educate you pretty well.

This might not even be your problem, but i think it might be. Hope this helps!

Thanks for that, it is definately a knock not a rattle though

Hi, the slides are latched and i didn't grease the pto when i did the mounts, so i'll do that, i made sure the shims were in the original spot though but i will check the rubber cushions on the driveshaft. Thanks for your help

That knock is a normal noise from impeller shaft end play in the jet pump when the engine is idling too slow. To eliminate the sound, set your idle speed to specs (1500 in the water). Also, if you want, you can get the anti-rattle cone to help reduce it but isn't really needed if your idle is set properly.
