No top speed on 1996 GTS - help

Having an issue with my 96 GTS. Starts and runs fine, full throttle from stop it accelerates fine. Once is gets going faster, it cuts out and shuts down or almost shuts down. It will restart and run fine again. It will run slow, about 4000 rpm continuous without shutting down, but any higher and it tries to shut off. When hitting full throttle from stop, it goes up to 6000+ rpms, but again when it gets up to speed it wont stay going fast. Any ideas???? Help???

Note that I am very new to this, but I had similar problems and everyone says to clean the rave valves. Check out this awesome pictorial

I had a similar problem on my 92 GTS. Mine has a fuel selector valve On/Off/reserve. Try running it in Reserve and see if it still has the issue. The fuel line that draws fuel from the tank has a screen that may be dirty. Possibly a dirty fuel filter. If it is not a fuel delivery problem it may be a problem with the MPEM rev limiter. its not your rave valves because you do not have them. do you still have the grey tempo fuel line?
