No spark at all on my spx 1997

Ok I have had a 1997 and 1998 spx for four years ran great every year my boats look brand new kept inside and covered.
So anyway I at first had the 97 running and then when I rode it I turned off across river and tried to start nothing happened not even a click or beeps.
So I put mpem from my 98 into 97 and no start so I bought new mpem for it nothing bought new coil, starter rely, stator and rectifier tested all wires even put new s/s button turns over still no spark at plugs tested with spark tester. Turns over great just no spark any thing else I am missing????

Are you sure the little black wire is connected from the electrical box to the battery negative terminal?
If you put the working MPEM from the 98' in the 97' and it still didn't start then why would you buy a new MPEM as clearly that wasn't the issue.
Also the aftermarket MPEM's don't work 99% of the time and most of the aftermarket electrical parts are junk.
If it cranks but doesn't spark I would first swap the coils from the good ski and if that doesn't work then I would be looking at the pickup trigger coil in the front magneto cover of the engine.

yes i did check wire and it is a good wire i bought a mpem since i put it into the 98 and did not start that's the reason i bought a new one I've checked coil no spark or signal. i switched back box's and mpem from the 98 to 97 and still no spark and switched back and the 98 starts but no go on the 97 im dumbfounded do not understand. i know the new coil is good the 98 starts.
any other ideas. today i am going to see if my candoo scanner will pick up the boat.
and i will let you know if it gets a signal. thanks for the input anything will help.

Was the pick up coil aftermarket? Seen posts before where aftermarket trigger coils were used, ohmed out fine the gap in them is incorrect

You are just going to have to swap all parts one by one with the good running ski until you find the issue.
